THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Acknowledging that a child is struggling in school can be difficult. For some parents, admitting to a potential learning disability can actually be scary.

“Some parents worry that by admitting to a learning problem, a child may be labeled slow or sent to the wrong class,” Kim Bellini, owner and director of The Woodlands LearningRx, said.

She is convinced, however, that parents who face that fear – and take action – can remedy their problems and do a lot to reverse the situation.

“What many parents don’t realize is that most kids with learning disabilities are just as intelligent as their classmates,” she said. “Their brains are simply wired differently for learning.”

These students need to be taught in ways that are adapted to how they process information.

Research is also showing that receiving help – especially early on – can improve the chances that children can adapt strategies that will help them succeed in school.

Bellini said LearningRx can help – by identifying what is causing a child’s learning problems.

“We get to the root of the cause – weak cognitive skills,” she said. “ By simply trying some brain-training exercises, children can strengthen cognitive skills and eventually excel at school.”

The Woodlands LearningRx offers unique, one-on-one training to help students of all ages strengthen their cognitive skills and transform their abilities to learn at a core level.
