THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Donielle Albrecht, an Upper School social science teacher at The John Cooper School, has been selected to serve as one of the first Advanced Placement (AP) Advocates for the state of Texas by the College Board AP Advocates in Texas. The program began in 2013 in California, Florida, Georgia and New York and just recently expanded to Texas.

As an AP Advocate, Albrecht will be challenged to meet with local and state public officials to speak about the importance of AP classes and work toward expanding opportunities for all students ready for advanced work. "They need more people who are willing to discuss policy and make changes at the high school level," said Albrecht who teaches AP Economics and AP Human Geography. "My goals are to increase the amount of Geography courses offered in the state and economics is always my passion."

"We are pleased to endorse Donielle's selection to serve as an AP advocate for the state of Texas," said Joe Broccoli, Assistant Head of School and Head of the Upper School at The John Cooper School. "She is a very skilled AP instructor with a strong foundation in the fundamentals of the AP program as she has taught AP courses for some years now, attended national AP conferences and presented in the field of Geography at the national AP conference level as well. We are fortunate to have her among our faculty."

Established in 1988, The John Cooper School is a Prekindergarten through Grade 12 college preparatory independent school.
