THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Fourteen-year-old Anna King of The Woodlands has been selected to light up Market Street and its 70-foot Christmas tree as part of the “Luxury in Lights” holiday spectacular to be held in Market Street’s Central Park on Thursday, November 20 at 6:00 pm.

With the help of her mother, father, and sister, Lila, Anna will flip the switch to officially kick off the holiday season and start Market Street’s three-minute holiday light show, a dazzling display of flashing, multi-colored lights synchronized to holiday songs. Anna was living with cardiomyopathy, and underwent a heart transplant in August, 2014, at Texas Children’s Hospital.

Market Street has honored a deserving child to start the holiday season at the shopping and dining destination since 2004.

The “Luxury in Lights” synchronized holiday light performance will continue evenings during the holidays, every hour on the half hour, from 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Market Street is located in the heart of The Woodlands Town Center at the corner of Six Pines Drive and Lake Robbins Drive.

Kellie Johnson of The Woodlands said she was inspired to nominate Anna after becoming close with their family through her children attending sixth grade at Deretchin Elementary with Anna’s sister Lila.

“Anna always has a smile on her face, a joke to tell, a song to sing and a fabulous sense of humor and is an inspiration to all who meet her,” says Johnson. “My daughters had the privilege of being the honorary tree lighters in 2009 and to this day, they still hold that night forever in their hearts and as one of their favorite accomplishments. We wanted to be sure Anna was given the same opportunity.”

“The King family has faced adversity and the challenge of dealing with a life-threatening illness with bravery and grace,” adds Johnson.

After the debut of Market Street’s “Luxury in Lights,” families can enjoy musical entertainment, snow machines, magic elves and holiday carriage rides available on a first-come, first-served basis.
