THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Earlier today residents and staff of The Woodlands Healthcare Center hosted an event to celebrate our nations veterans on this Veterans Day. Representative-Elect Keough was honored to represent the community expressing our gratitude for past and current members of the American Armed Forces. Speaking at the event, Mr. Keough said: “At the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, the guns fell silent, and the First World War drew to an end. Ever since, Americans have set aside November 11th to honor our veterans whose footsteps set the pace of freedom's march. From our fiery birth in 1776 to freedom's latest triumphs in Iraq and Afghanistan, America's veterans have always answered the call and given their all whenever tyrants and despots imperiled freedom and democracy.”

During the ceremony, Representative-Keough presented veterans with certificates of appreciation for their service to our country. At times many of the veterans, who are at a time in their life where they are unable to stand, mustered the strength to rise and accept the document with tears in their eyes. With over 25 veterans recognized for their service, todays event was a successful demonstration of our nations patriotisim and the love we have for our service men and women. Ending the celebration this morning, with over 150 in attendance Mr. Keough said. “To the men and women of our Armed Forces and to you veterans here today, know that you have your country’s gratitude and my deepest appreciation on this Veterans Day and every day of the year. May God Bless America and the veterans who keep her free. And May God continue to bless the great state of Texas.”
