THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Everyday, hundreds of children walk into The Woodlands Children’s Museum to explore and discover, while letting their creativity soar. With a variety of fun learning opportunities at their fingertips, children are immersed in multicultural and multiethnic experiences while also enjoying the numerous activities available to them at the museum.

The Woodlands Children's Museum is hosting its 3rd annual Wreath Whimsy Fundraiser

At The Woodlands Children’s Museum, the mission is to educate, empower and excite children all over the Montgomery County area. That is why during this holiday season, the museum will be hosting its 3rd annual Wreath Whimsy Fundraiser to help fund outreach programs and provide field trips free of charge for underserved children.

“This is a very large community, and we are very proud of our product, and we are very proud of what it represents,” said Angela Colton, Executive Director of The Woodlands Children’s Museum. “Doing the work that we do to get these wreaths out there, we are very proud knowing that these are collected to serve underserved children in the arts, science and technology fields."

In the past, money raised from the Wreath Whimsy Fundraiser has gone towards field trips for pre-k and kindergarten children.

“It teaches the kids about adornments, musical instruments, maps and other subjects they might not learn in school,” said Colton.

The museum has also been able to purchase artifacts and adornment pieces, allowing the children a tactile experience, along with teaming up with Because Art Matters, part of the Woodlands Waterway Art Festival, in which kids can partake in art projects.

“The Wreath Whimsy fundraiser is our desire to get fresh wreaths out to the community,” said Colton. “These wreaths are put together by a family-owned farm and they send them to us already assembled, and then our staff and other volunteers in our community get together and embellish them with fresh pinecones, bows and ribbons.”

The museum will be selling the wreaths and centerpieces until December 12, perfect timing for the holidays. It will add a beautiful touch to a home while also supporting a wonderful cause. They can be ordered at the museum or online, with three different styles of wreaths to choose from. Wreaths are approximately 24” and are $79 each, and centerpieces have a length of 15” are $35 each. If the wreaths and centerpieces are watered with a spray bottle daily, they can last up to two weeks or longer.

“I would love to sell 300 wreaths this year,” said Colton. “There didn’t seem to be a lot of fresh wreaths available in this area and we are just grateful to be a part of this.”

Wreaths and centerpieces can be picked up on Fridays between November 4th and December 19th at The Woodlands Children’s Museum, located at 4775 W. Panthercreek Drive, suite 280. Once the order has been placed, buyers will be able to select a date and time, making sure to allow at least one week’s time after they have ordered. For those who ordered online, they will be contacted via phone to schedule a pickup time.

Dates and pickup times are as follows:

November 21st, 10am - 5pm

December 5th, 10am - 5pm

December 12th, 10am - 5pm

December 19th, 10am - 5pm

Angela Colton and staff at The Woodlands Children’s Museum strive to provide a safe and fun learning environment for children so that they can grow with creative and imaginative experiences.

“For me, the most rewarding part is seeing the differences that we make in children’s lives,” said Colton.
