HUNTSVILLE, Texas - The Lady Highlander volleyball train keeps chugging along as Kendall Cook led a balanced attack for The Woodlands (37-3) in shutting down a talented Highland Park Lady Scots squad, 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-14).

The Woodlands will play Richardson Pearce Saturday at 5:30pm in Region II Final

Cook was an absolute setting machine assisting on 30 Lady Highlander points to go along with 16 digs as well as two blocks for good measure making her presence known all over the court. Highland Park (20-11) was able to hang out with the Lady Highlanders in the first two sets but The Woodlands proved to be too much for the Lady Scots. The final set was just a formality as the Lady Highlanders swept yet another playoff opponent.

Courtney Quinn tallied a double-double with 13 digs and 10 kills. Courtney's serve was on as well keeping the Lady Scots on their heels every time she toed the stripe. Rachel Reed had 11 kills, two and a half blocks and two aces. Once again, Julia Pasch filled up her stat column with four kills, six digs, two and a half blocks and an assist accompanied by perfect serving. Hailey Reier continues to have quality outings with nine digs to go along with her usual 100 percent serving. Codi Lee was solid with six digs as she hustled her way around the backcourt all match long. Colby Quinn chipped in five digs and an assist as she was good on all of her serves as well. Hannah Hickman had seven kills and a block making Highland Park well aware of her presence every time Coach Leslie Madison called her name. Bella Pinton chipped in with three kills, three digs and an assist.

The first set was a back and forth affair with The Woodlands finally creating some separation as Reed took matters into her own hands at 16-16 by ripping two aces and a kill that almost brought the house down to make the score 19-16. A mis-hit and long serve by Highland Park followed by a Pasch Block left the set for Hickman as she painted the back line off of a nice feed from Cook.

The Lady Scots were not discouraged and came out for the second set like gangbusters. After an Elizabeth Gilley thunder slam tied things at 4, Cook decided to take matters into her own hands in serving six straight winners. The Lady Highlanders were able to keep the Lady Scots at bay throughout the remainder of the set and were never threatened.

Highland Park made a gallant effort to keep the third set close but for all intents and purposes, the match was a foregone conclusion. Colby Quinn served for the 25th point and The Woodlands was now looking forward to the regional final.

Gilley and Caroline Downing had 17 and 14 kills respectively for Highland Park.

"I think Kendall (Cook) did a really nice job running the offense, her choices were good, and once we sped up our offense, I think they (Highland Park) had trouble with that," said Lady Highlander Head Coach Leslie Madison.

The Woodlands will play Richardson Pearce as they took care of Austin-Westlake in the other semifinal in five sets. The winner of the 2014 Class 6A Region ll UIL Championship game at 5:30pm on Saturday punches their ticket to the State Tournament in Garland.
