11 schools represent at HHFC's second tournament of the year

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The HHFC's (Houston Area High School Fishing Conference) second tournament of the year went off without a hitch this past Saturday on Lake Livingston as eleven schools were represented. In all, 42 boat teams, with each boat consisting of two anglers and one boat captain, competed in temperatures no higher than 47 degrees all day long.

The College Park boat team consisting of anglers, Michael Mahony and Braxton Benoit with boat captain, Ken Mahony, came away with top honors bringing home four fish with a bag weight of 10.50 pounds.

Shepherd and Willis high schools came in second and third respectively. Complete results can be found here from the tournament, and the overall standings can be found here.

The HHFC has already grown 100 percent with twelve high schools, up from six. Three more schools will be ready to roll for the upcoming tournament on February 28th.

The Woodlands high school coach and HHFC President, Henry Burns, indicated that even in tough conditions, twenty one boat teams caught fish.

Susan Cosulluela of The Woodlands high school is the first female boat captain in the HHFC and the Highlanders have five of the top 13 boats.
