THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Thanksgiving Holiday came early for more than 400 area seniors who enjoyed two traditional Thanksgiving meals with all of the trimmings. The first feast which was held on Monday, November 17, was graciously provided by Interfaith Member Congregations: Community Christian Church, Crossroads Baptist Church, First Church of Christ Scientist, Spirit Filled Celebration Church, and The Woodlands United Methodist Church. The second feast, held on Tuesday, November 18, was generously sponsored by Talisman Energy. Talisman Energy employees volunteered during the event serving meals and drinks to the seniors. Both feasts were held at the South County Community Center.

“We are thrilled to be able to provide traditional Thanksgiving meals to our senior neighbors, it is a wonderful opportunity for our seniors to celebrate Thanksgiving and have the opportunity to enjoy fellowship with each other,” said Dr. Ann Snyder, President and CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands.

In addition to the delicious meal, seniors enjoyed music, games, and special performances by students from the Interfaith Child Development Center as well as the Goldenaires senior choir from The Woodlands United Methodist Church.

“Interfaith is a great organization and the vehicle that enables local congregations to channel their efforts in the ways they want to give back. We appreciate the work Interfaith does in coordinating these efforts which unifies the support,” said Pastor Alan Splawn, Associate Pastor at The Woodlands Church and Interfaith Board Member.

On hand to help serve the holiday meals were board members, community leaders, Talisman Energy USA employees, and staff from Interfaith of The Woodlands.

“Seniors are many times a part of our society that gets left out, and we wanted to show them that they are special, and this celebration is a fun way to do just that. Talisman employees are dedicated to giving back to the communities where we live and work,” said Scott Tompkins, Stakeholder Relations Lead for Talisman Energy, USA. Residents from throughout South Montgomery County who participate in activities at the South County Community Center were invited to enjoy the feast which was provided by Luby’s Cafeteria.
