THE WOODLANDS, Texas - On December 30, Woodlands residents Robyn Petty, Steele Petty and Carson Daspit will be traveling to Lusaka, Zambia, Africa, to attend Dream Camp. Dream camp is a week-long camp held specifically for more than 500 orphans who call the Tree of Life Children's Village, home.

Dream Camp resembles an American summer camp, where counselors use their talents and expertise to lead classes to these rescued orphans. The classes introduce these children to new skills and passions, helping them discover their individual talents along the way.

Steele and Carson, freshmen lacrosse players for The Woodlands, will teach lacrosse. It will be a great opportunity for these children to experience the joy and fun that comes with the freedom of just being a kid.

Steele and Carson will come up with a program and lessons that introduce these children to new skills and passions, helping them discover their talents along the way. The children who live at Tree of Life have come from some of the most horrific situations, and this opportunity really encourages the children to dream of their future.

Robyn Petty attended last year where a group taught baseball to the children.

"It was the absolute highlight of my year. To see the boys learn to hit and throw, and catch a baseball was the most precious sight ever. Some were so talented and learned to love the sport in the course of a week." Robyn continued, "There was a little boy named Gift that had cerebral palsy, and he hit a ball and ran the bases. Let me tell you, there wasn't a dry eye watching."

The trip promises to impact children in tangible ways by giving them an amazing week of lacrosse: a sport they have never heard of, and would never have the opportunity to learn. It creates the ability to dream of their future. It provides hope.

Steele and Carson could use some help in that they need to bring 15-20 lacrosse sticks so that after the kids are finished using them, they can keep them to continue to learn how to play and most importantly, to continue to have fun. They are looking for used, yet functioning lacrosse sticks. Another option would be to donate towards the purchase of inexpensive sticks.

If you have a stick(s) you would like to donate or would like to make a donation toward the purchase of a sticks(s), please contact Robyn Petty at the email address provided below.

"We will be sure to take lots of pictures of the children learning lacrosse to share with everyone when we get back." said Robyn.
