THE WOODLANDS, Texas - This just in from San Diego State University: 2013 TWHS setter as well as State/National Champion, Courtney Eckenrode, is getting significant playing time as evidenced by her status as being the starting setter for the Lady Aztecs. The team is young and will finish in the neighborhood of 500 but looks to be a force in the years to come.

Indications are that Courtney continues to achieve the good grades in college that she earned at The Woodlands high school.

"Eck" has been following her favorite high school team from afar and wanted to wish the 2014 Lady Highlanders good luck at the Texas UIL-6A Volleyball State Championship starting tomorrow at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas.

"Good luck to The Woodlands this weekend as they return to the state championship for the second consecutive year! I want all of those girls to experience what I was fortunate enough to last year, and that is the unforgettable feeling of being a state champion. It is a moment I will always remember and is one that not many get to experience. Even getting this far into the playoffs is something to be very proud of," said Eckenrode.

Courtney has enjoyed her first semester at San Diego State.

"It has been an adjustment, especially moving out to San Diego but it has treated me very well and I am very lucky. We are just concluding our season and it has been a challenging, but exciting and fun experience and I couldn't have asked for anything better."

Eckenrode is an example of the great character that comes from the Lady Highlander volleyball program.
