Montgomery County, TX -- Children’s Books on Wheels presents Jingle Bell Rock, a Holiday event with dancing, food, and live music on Friday, December 12 at 8:00 pm at the Sleepy Hollow Multipurpose Building, 9845 Sleepy Hollow in Conroe. Proceeds will benefit the Seed to Read Literacy Program.

Ray Parsee and Cliff Duncan will provide the Rhythm and Blues music. The band has played in local venues around the county including Crescent Moon Wine Bar, Kirby’s, and Brady’s Landing. Rock the night away and enjoy a scrumptious feast while making a donation to help children in the county to read.

The Seed to Read Literacy Program is the foundation for Children’s Books on Wheels (CBOW). Children’s Books on Wheels is a 501© (3) non profit organization established in 2004 and dedicated to promoting books, educational literature, and community resources for children pre-K through 12 grade in rural communities with limited funding. CBOW is a mobile program serving all of Montgomery County, but physically located in the low income area of Tamina, east of The Woodlands.

New and gently used book donations are always appreciated. There is a book drop off bin at the UPS store at 330 Rayford in The Woodlands.

Children are welcome to participate in the Seed to Read program every Wednesday throughout the year from 5:00 pm to 6:30 at the Sleepy Hollow Multipurpose Building. Currently 75 children attend classes after school with assistance with homework, tutoring, and reading. Free books are also available at every session. Funding will also go toward the production of “Brooklyn” that will be performed by the Seed to Read participants on February 25. The book, written by a local author Alicia Salazar, is named after the 5 boroughs in New York-Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx with the promise to look towards the future with encouragement.

Tickets for Jungle Bell Rock are $25 each and available by purchasing online at Children’s Books on Wheels - Jingle Bell Rock, or by calling Rita Wiltz, Executive Director at 281.844.7596.

“We do what we can to meet the needs of the community through books and education”, said Rita Wiltz.
