THE WOODLANDS, Texas – As an incentive to conserve the local water supply, The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department invites the residents and village associations of The Woodlands to participate in the Water-Wise Village Challenge. The goal of this challenge is for residents to pledge that they will turn off the automated sprinkler system or not water the grass until April 15. The pledge is available online at this link.

Turf, particularly St. Augustine grass, widely adopted in The Woodlands, goes dormant during winter and does not require watering during this time.

Each pledge submitted will earn a contest point for the resident’s village. After submitting the pledge, residents are encouraged to obtain and display the free yard sign, “This Yard is Helping to Conserve Our Water Supply,” available at the Environmental Services Department of The Woodlands Township at 8203 Millennium Forest Drive.

The winning villages with the most pledges will be announced at WaterFest on May 9, 2015. All residents are invited to take part of this challenge (one pledge per household). The challenge begins December 1, 2014 and ends on April 15, 2015. Pledges can also be submitted in person at The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department, 8203 Millennium Forest Dr. The Woodlands, TX 77381.

For more information on this challenge, please visit the link provided below, or contact The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department at 281-210-3800.
