John Cooper vocal students selected for TPSMEA State Honor Choirs

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Lower and Middle School students from The John Cooper School traveled to Plano, Texas on November 14 and 15 to perform at the Texas Private School Music Educators Association (TPSMEA) State Honor Choir Concert.

After participating in an audition process, four Cooper seventh and eighth grade vocal students had the distinction of being selected for the Middle School Honor Choir that was directed by composer and clinician Laura Farnell. Seventh grader Zoe Tait and eighth graders Pablo Flower, Matt Krehbiel and Conor Patterson represented Cooper in the 100-member choir.

Also performing were twenty-four Cooper fifth and sixth graders who sang in the 200-member TPSMEA Children’s Honor Choir that was directed by Melissa Roth from Dallas. “These students auditioned for this opportunity and learned seven pieces for the performance,” said Lower School Music teacher Debra Moses. Representing Cooper were Paris Allison, Kylie Bevan, Ashlyn Chimenti, Ally Coulton, Maci Flanagan, Sophia Godfrin, Adelaide Herman, Matthew Holloway-Strong, Rebecca Juranek, Sarah Lalani, Bailey Leavitt, Brianna Leavitt, Amber Navarra, Reyna Ngu, Bill Nowlin, Juliet Oswald, Joaquin Paz, Alessandra Ramirez, Brennan Robson, Hayden Rockov, Henry Smith, Isabelle Stanosheck, Anna Lisa Strobel and Vanessa Vaz.

“We are very pleased to have such a strong representation in this year’s TPSMEA State Honor Choir Concert,” said Middle/Upper School Choir Director Rae Moses. “The students should be proud of their accomplishments.”
