THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Local financial and business leaders to evaluate Cooper's AP Microeconomics SHARK TANK project.

Monday, December 8

  • 9 AM to 3 PM - Bourque Library - Upper School
  • Local Financial and Business Leaders to Evaluate
  • AP Microeconomics SHARK TANK Project

AP Microeconomics students will apply what they have learned this semester in a creative "Shark Tank" project and local business experts will come on campus to provide valuable feedback. Here is how their teacher, Donelle Albrecht, described the unique assignment:

Applying the information learned about firm behavior, this semester seniors in AP Microeconomics classes have developed unique business plans to present to local businesspeople in The Woodlands community. The spirit of entrepreneurship is developed and encouraged as students create a meaningful product or service. Teams of students must create a specific pricing structure, advertising plan, and cost analysis for both short-term and long-term operations.

On Monday, local experts in finance and business operations will evaluate the students' business ideas and provide feedback modeling the format of the NBC show, "Shark Tank." Product ideas include several unique and niche Apps, a teen dance club, a teen tutoring service, battery charging backpacks, and ear buds that pause the play of audio once they no longer share contact with the ear.

Cooper Community Busy Making Bowls to Help Fight Hunger

National Art Honor Society (NAHS) students have raised over $55,000 for hunger relief since the inception of the Empty Bowls Project 10 years ago. Students from all grade levels are busy creating bowls for the annual event. In February, members of the community are invited to share a bowl of soup, bid in a silent art auction, and take home a student-made bowl as a reminder that there are empty bowls in our community. Reservations are $10 and proceeds will benefit The Interfaith Food Pantry.
