Lady Highlanders can't overcome Kingwood

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The Woodlands Lady Highlanders got within a single possession late, however Kingwood went on a run late in the fourth quarter en route to a 49-42 district win at The Woodlands Monday night.

Senior forward Aalyah Wheatfall hit a 3-point shot with just under 3:30 remaining in the fourth quarter to draw The Woodlands (8-10, 1-1) within 38-35. Kingwood then responded with a 10-0 run to close the game out and improve to 13-4 overall and 2-0 in District 16-6A play.

Kingwood sprinted out to an early 11-4 lead to begin the game, before the Lady Highlanders used tough defense to pull within a single possession several times in the second quarter.

The Lady Highlanders played tenacious defense, however just couldn’t get the shots to fall consistently in the second half.

The Woodlands will continue district play on Friday, December 19 at 7pm, when they host the Conroe Lady Tigers.
