MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- Constable Ryan Gable recently teamed up with Longhorn Steakhouse to host a Cowboy Breakfast to benefit Children's Safe Harbor (CSH). Guests, who included community leaders and elected officials, donated a $20 fee for the breakfast, which was underwritten by Longhorn Steakhouse so that all proceeds would benefit CSH.

Children’s Safe Harbor’s mission is to facilitate the healing of children who have experienced sexual abuse by facilitating investigation, prosecution, justice and healing all within one central location. Serving children ages two through 17 and their families, this children’s advocacy center brings several agencies together in a co-located facility to minimize the traumatic need for the child victim to re-tell their experience to multiple agencies. CSH currently serves over 1,000 new cases a year.

“We are extremely happy to host this breakfast to benefit this accredited organization which specializes in child sexual abuse,” said Constable Gable. “My office has assigned a second new detective to work with Children’s Safe Harbor in Montgomery County beginning in 2015, which will aid the investigative and forensic efforts and ultimately help these kids achieve justice and healing so they can acclimate to life again.”

Judge Lisa Michalk added, “We are so appreciative of the work Children’s Safe Harbor does to lessen the burden on the child so that he or she does not have to testify over and over. A lot of children are afraid when they are within the court system, and it’s so important that they have the support they need. With our county’s population increase, we have to have the infrastructure to protect our children and that’s what Children’s Safe Harbor is helping us do.”

Victoria Constance, MSPH, PhD, Executive Director of CSH, said, “This gathering is an incredible moment that shows the connection within our community to build not only financial contributions but awareness about Children’s Safe Harbor’s mission to end the cycle of child sexual abuse. We are grateful for Constable Ryan Gable and Longhorn Steakhouse’s hospitality and the generous guests who supported us.”

Children’s Safe Harbor is a non-profit 501(C)3 tax-exempt organization. Their main office is located at 1519 Oddfellow Street in Conroe, Texas. For more information or to make a donation or inquire about volunteering, call 936-756-4644 ext. 235 or visit the link provided.
