THE WOODLANDS, Texas - For those families living in the Imperial Oaks Area, the YMCA will now be offering a holiday camp close to home at the Oak Ridge Baptist Church located on Hanna Road. In addition the YMCA will continue to host a Holiday Adventure Camp at the Creekside YMCA.

School will soon be out for the Holiday Break! Parents want to ensure their children are safe, supervised and engaged in activities that keep their minds and bodies active when school is out for the holidays. Children eagerly anticipate the free time and simply want to have fun! The South Montgomery County YMCA offers more than one solution to keep everyone happy this coming season.

With licensed holiday camps at the Y, parents don’t need to leave their children in front of television sets during holiday break. Children have the opportunity to play and participate in character building activities, arts and crafts, sports, games and so much more under the watchful eyes of caring role models.

Holiday Adventure Camp gives kids the opportunity to experience all the fun and excitement of summer camp during their holiday break. For students, K-6th grade, kids will enjoy songs and skits, arts/crafts, games, sports and much more. Care is provided 7am – 6:30pm. Pre-registration is required. Holiday camp is available Dec. 22, 23, 26, 29, 30, and Jan. 2, 5 and 19.

The Y is addressing critical gaps in health and education that cause kids to be at risk for childhood obesity. YMCA camp programs provide a wealth of opportunity for kids to get active through play. Experts recommend that kids engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity, including active play, each day. Studies show that kids who consistently engage in play are happier and healthier and develop and enhance a variety of skills including motor skills, social skills, problem solving, and creativity. Kids who get 60 minutes of physical play also tend to have higher self-esteem and perform better academically.

YMCA holiday camp reinforce the Y’s core values of respect, responsibility, honesty, caring and faith. Spaces are still available. Visit www.ymcahouston.org/south-montgomery-county or call 281.367.9622.
