THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The South Montgomery County Family YMCA kicked off its Annual Campaign this month to help raise funds that will provide scholarships to local youth, teen, families and seniors. Each of the 37 YMCAs across the greater Houston area work together to meet the $7.2 million goal.

Last year, YMCA of Greater Houston association volunteers united to gain the trust and charitable support of more than 10,000 individual, corporate and foundation donors. They raised more than $6.9 million to support efforts at the South Montgomery County YMCA and the other communities throughout the Houston area. In 2014 more than $650,000 was given to youth, families and seniors in the South County area through the South Montgomery County YMCA.

These dollars will serve 4000+ people in programs like child care, swim lessons, day camp, active older adults, sports and more. The donations provide families in South County opportunities to spend quality time together and equip children with skills for the future. One hundred percent of the money raised for South Montgomery County YMCA stays within our local community.

"Every gift to the Annual Campaign is an investment in the children in our community,” said Landrum Turner, Community Executive Director. “Your gifts make our community stronger and give community members, regardless of their ability to pay, the opportunity to participate in our programs and achieve their greatest potential. The Y is so much more than a gym. It’s a Cause. Our cause is strengthening communites”.
