THE WOODLANDS, Texas – For years, emergency rooms have had the reputation of having long wait times, sometimes leaving patients to wait up to several hours before receiving medical attention. However, by taking an ER out of the hospital and creating a freestanding emergency room, the wait time is significantly lowered. Opened in December of 2014, Parkway ER takes pride in the fact that their patients have little to no wait time, and are treated with the utmost respect while receiving the best possible medical care.

“The biggest benefit of a freestanding ER is no wait,” said Dr. George Davis of Parkway ER. “Most hospitals these days are understaffed and over crowded with a lot of patients. What we try to do is take that wait away from an ER visit. Most of our patients are seen within 5 to 10 minutes. We do all of our lab testing and x-rays on site so we get everything back pretty quickly.”

The medical staff at Parkway ER consists of Board Certified ER physicians and emergency nurses. From abdominal and chest pain, dehydration, heat strokes, and fever, to skin rashes, allergic reactions, blood clots and burns, Parkway ER treats a wide range of injuries, emergencies and illnesses. The facility even has a CT Scan, X-Ray machine, Ultrasound and EKG on site.

“We care about you as a patient. When you come in we treat you like our family,” said Dr. Davis.

Parkway ER treats patients of all ages including children. Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the fully functioning emergency room is conveniently located in Creekside, at 25450 Kuykendahl, Suite 300. The new ER has a warm, inviting lobby in order to make patients and family members feel comfortable and welcome. The facility is complete with several exam rooms, a triage area, and an emergency suite to accommodate any patient that walks through the doors.

Parkway ER is in-network with most insurance plans, giving patients peace of mind that there will not be any hidden fees, and that they will only receive one bill from the facility that is related to any deductibles or copay's.

“A lot of free standing ERs are out-of-network. We are the opposite,” said Dr. Davis. “We are in-network so we contract directly with the insurance. You get one statement from us and that’s it. When you go to a hospital or out of network ERs, you will get multiple bills.”

Another advantage of going to Parkway ER is that if a patient needs to be taken to a hospital, patients can bypass the emergency room in a hospital all together and go straight to an operating room or be admitted. Known as direct admit, this allows patients to receive medical care much faster. Parkway ER usually transfers patients to the hospital of their choice, but Dr. Davis can also arrange patients to see a specialist, depending on the injury or illness.

“We can arrange with specialists in the area to see patients the very next day,” said Dr. Davis. “There was a girl who broke her shoulder on a Sunday, I called a specialist, and on the very next day she had surgery.”

Overall, the patients at Parkway ER are the greatest priority. With highly qualified physicians and staff, the emergency room works to treat every patient with the upmost respect and highest quality of care, while drastically decreasing the wait time.

“I like spending time with the patients,” said Dr. Davis. “When I worked in a hospital there were so many patients that would come in, and we were so understaffed that it was hard to spend time with the patient one-on-one. Here, I can talk to the patient and get to know them and their family.”

No matter the injury, illness, or accident, Parkway ER will put their patients first, getting them in quick and out fast.
