THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Despite the falling price of oil, local political and corporate leaders professed a bullish outlook at the 29th-annual Economic Outlook Conference hosted by The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce on Friday, Feb. 20 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott and Convention Center. The sold-out conference featured a who's who of local political and business leaders who chronicled the surge of commercial and residential growth and interest in the area.

The Economic Outlook Conference included a diverse array of speakers who discussed economic expansion for a crowd of 700 attendees. US Congressman Kevin Brady (R-TX) kicked off the morning, and was followed by dynamic speakers, including John Moseley, senior director of trade development, Port of Houston Authority; Alex Sutton and Tim Welbes, co-presidents of The Woodlands Development Co.; Virgil Yoakum, general manager and VP of The Johnson Development Corp.; Sallie Rainer, president and CEO of Entergy Texas; and Patrick Jankowski, regional economist and VP of research for the Greater Houston Partnership. Peter Cella, president and CEO of Chevron Phillips Chemical delivered the lunch keynote address, detailing the potential for domestic energy-industry growth in the upcoming decades.

Over 75 area companies sponsored the Economic Outlook Conference at a variety of levels, including Strike LLC, the presenting sponsor for the second year in a row.

"We were gratified to put up a record-breaking year for sponsorships and attendance, " says Greg Usher, commercial broker, Cypressbrook Co. "In light of the current political and economic climate, our lineup of speakers was extremely timely."
