THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The South Montgomery County Family YMCA Youth Sports League held a charity shoot-a-thon this past weekend. Volunteer Soccer and Basketball Coaches each took their turn, at half-time, shooting free throws and scoring goals. Parents, family members, friends and coaches each pledged a specific dollar amount for each successful free throw or goal. The result? More than $4500 was raised for the YMCA Annual Campaign!

Last year, YMCA staff and volunteers united to gain the trust and charitable support of individuals, corporate and foundation donors and raised more than $650,000. The goal for 2015 is $725,000.

These dollars will serve 4000+ people in programs like child care, swim lessons, day camp, active older adults, sports and more. The donations provide families in South County, regardless of their financial resources, opportunities to spend quality time together and equip children with skills for the future. One hundred percent of the money raised for South Montgomery County YMCA stays within our local community.

"Every gift to the Annual Campaign is an investment in the children in our community,” said Landrum Turner, Community Executive Director. “Your gifts make our community stronger and give community members, regardless of their ability to pay, the opportunity to participate in our programs and achieve their greatest potential. The Y is so much more than a gym. It’s a Cause. Our cause is strengthening communites”.
