SHENANDOAH, Texas - Shenandoah City Council positions up for election in May are officially unopposed. Council members John Houston, Darrell Frazier, and Jean Teague all filed for re-election to their respective positions and no one filed to run against them by the deadline on February 27. Pending final action by the City Council, the election will be cancelled in their regular meeting on March 25, 2015.

John Houston was appointed by Council last year to fill the unexpired term for Position 2 when Ron Hyde resigned. He will return to his seat for a full two-year term. Darrell Frazier is currently the Mayor Pro-tem, and will begin his fourth term on city council in Position 3. Jean Teague is a long time resident and active community member, and will begin her third term on council.

Mayor Garry B. Watts congratulated the returning council members and reached out to the community for their involvement in City business, “We always welcome new faces and viewpoints, and on behalf of the Shenandoah City Council, we encourage participation from all of our residents. There are many ways to be engaged in your community.”

Shenandoah City Hall will still be open as a polling location on May 9, 2015 for the MontgomeryCounty bond referendum. City officials urge residents to weigh in on this important issue that affects citizens countywide.
