THE WOODLANDS, Texas– Since, 2006, Panther Creek Inspiration Ranch has been fulfilling its mission of partnering horses with people to transform lives and help them reach their highest ability by providing a Christ-centered oasis for children and adults with special challenges seeking excellence in equine activities and therapies. The staff at the non-profit ranch know that the horses there provide the healing that its participants and families need and cannot find in another therapeutic setting.

A donation to Panther Creek Inspiration Ranch literally goes twice as far

The care and maintenance of the horses at the Woodlands facility, however, requires significant financial resources. Yet Sondra Himmer, Vice President of Development and Communications, has discovered that something unique occurs whenever someone joins the HorseShoe Club, the program that allows members of the public to sponsor a horse.

“We always hear about paying it forward when it comes to generosity,” Himmer said. “With us, it’s literal. Sponsoring a horse is enough for most people, a chance to help one of God’s beautiful creatures flourish. However, by sponsoring that horse, the donor also allows that horse to provide a therapeutic riding experience for our participants with special needs.” In essence, the donors receive double the dividends for their generosity.

According to Himmer, the routine care and maintenance costs approximately $300 a month, or $3,600 a year, for each horse, and there are typically a dozen on the premises. “And that’s just the daily care of feeding, boarding and handling. Vet bills can substantially increase the cost.”

The HorseShoe Club was created as an opportunity for a donor to personally sponsor one of the horses at Inspiration Ranch. Contributions can range from purchasing a bale of hay for a day to caring for a horse for a whole year. When a donor joins the HorseShoe Club, he or she will receive a picture of their horse and an invitation to the ranch for a visit.

“Our goal is to help people reach their highest abilities, and our horses are the partner to achieving that goal,” said Himmer. “Our ranch has been supported by the love of the community, and we are happy that the generosity of this community sponsors at least two living souls for the price of one.”

There are other giving opportunities at Inspiration Ranch, such as Sponsor a Child, Annual Fund Partners, the Kroger Community Rewards Program, bequests and planned giving, gifts of stocks and securities, honorary/memorial giving, and matching gift programs.
