THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Woodlands Children’s Museum has announced the addition of a new operations manager with a love for nonprofits, children and culture, Celdie Sanabria.

Celdie Sanabria brings years of experience with nonprofit management to the position

Prior to joining the museum, Sanabria worked as executive director of the Montgomery County Hispanic Chamber and also worked as the Hispanic specialist for the Montgomery County Women’s Center. She has extensive experience serving Amigos de las Américas, a nonprofit organization that builds cultural awareness through immersion in different countries in Latin America.

Sanabria joined Amigos as a student in California and traveled to Panama as a volunteer.

“It was an amazing experience,” she recalls. “I wanted to make that opportunity available for others.”

The following year, she returned as a staff member, this time visiting the Dominican Republic. The next year took her to Costa Rica as assistant project director.

Then, Sanabria decided to move to Houston, where Amigos de las Américas is headquartered. She worked her way up from director of recruiting to director of operations – and earned her masters degree in business along the way.

After a number of years of commuting to Houston, however, Sanabria decided to move her career closer to home.

When she discovered a job opening at The Woodlands Children’s Museum listed on Woodlands Online, she jumped at the opportunity.

“It caught my eye and sounded like it would be a good fit,” she said. “I acted on it quickly. Working with youth is something that still pulls on my heartstrings.”

Sanabria started at the post in November and has enjoyed her working environment since day one.

“The staff members are just so positive,” she said.

Sanabria hopes to help increase awareness of the museum. “People are still finding us,” she said. “We’re still growing. I want everyone to know who we are and what we do.”

Executive director Angela Colton said Sanabria is a perfect addition to the team.

“Celdie has such great enthusiasm – and she has a wealth of experience,” Colton said. “We’re so happy that she decided to call The Woodlands Children’s Museum home.”
