Five CISD students honored by the Texas Art Education Association

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Five Conroe ISD students were honored by the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) in Austin on Sunday, March 22. The annual TAEA Youth Art Month Exhibition showcases the top 100 works of art submitted by districts across the State. The pieces are then displayed at the Bob Bullock State History Museum and the State Capitol Building.

Conroe ISD students recognized include:


Abigail Alanis (2nd grade), Reaves Elementary

Brandon Foskett (8th grade), Irons Junior High

Lauren Cole (8th grade), McCullough Junior High

Maritza Balderas Cruz (2nd grade), Austin Elementary

Paris Couch (7th grade), McCullough Junior High

Additionally, Maritza Balderas Cruz’s art was selected by Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott to be framed and hung in the governor’s office for the next calendar year. Paris Couch’s artwork was selected for display at the National Art Education Association Convention in New Orleans.

Mrs. Abbott presented students with medals and a gift bag of art supplies at the ceremony.
