THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Rick Alspaugh, owner of Alspaugh’s Ace Hardware in both The Woodlands and Kingwood, was one of the first small businesses to join the America’s Heroes First Foundation (AHFF) payroll deduction plan with 97% of their 80 employees contributing roughly $20 each month.

Payrolll deduction plan supports military families in need.

“With 40% of our employees part time, I am proud of the commitment from my staff to invest in military members and their families”, said Rick Alspaugh.

America’s Heroes First Foundation is a grassroots movement founded in 2010 by concerned citizens that recognize that many of our military families are in desperate need of assistance from the community to fill unmet needs. AHFF is a sustainable assistance program that funds specific military charities that have proven to be effective in meeting the needs of our military. 100% of donations received through payroll deductions or individual online giving is passed through to existing charities that assist with Emergency Assistance, Medical Assistance, Financial Assistance, Education and Training, and other Special Programs. AHFF relies on a voluntary Board of Directors to implement the initial start-up and provide infrastructure to the foundation. All underwriting funding is met through grants, volunteers, and specific sponsors-both individuals and corporate partners.

Americans want to do something to help make a difference to those that have served our country selfishly. More than 1.4 billion dollars of critical needs are unmet through government programs designed for the military or existing veteran charities. AHFF was developed to fill the gap of needs through community participation.

How can you help?
AHFF is hoping to involve additional business partners through payroll deductions and advocating about the organization. Social media sharing is a great communication tool to advocate for AHFF.

“Americans are called to unite on the behalf of our heroes. The military traditionally depend on each other for support. Now it is our turn to step forward and let them know they can depend on us for support”.

The photo was taken at the Alspaugh’s Ace Hardware store in Kingwood, Texas. The illustration “No Man Left Behind” represents a wounded soldier in Iraq carried off the battlefield by fellow soldiers. Ace Hardware employees received the picture as a gift from the Hope for the Warriors organization for contributing towards a $36,000 grant.
