CISD students win big at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - On Saturday, March 7, 2015, Conroe ISD students were honored at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) for their outstanding artwork.

The HLSR School Arts Program culls the best student artwork from over 100 school districts and over 50 private schools. Conroe ISD had at least one student representing the District in every category. Winners are as follows:

Austin Elementary

  • Tracy Chalico (3rd grade) – Elementary Best of Show

Birnham Woods Elementary

  • Cassandra Bishop (4th grade) – Elementary Gold Medal, Glassell Winner

McCullough Junior High School

  • Chloe Pascual (8th grade) – Junior High Gold Medal
  • Dorothy Nie (8th grade) –Junior High Grand Champion, Junior High Best of Show, and Glassell Winner

Oak Ridge High School

  • Stacy Larsen (10th grade) – High School Special Merit Award

The Woodlands College Park High School

  • Jackie Rowell (12th grade) – High School Best of Show, Lot #39 Auction

The Woodlands High School

  • Courtney Nelson (12th grade) – High School Gold Medal Award
  • Helen Wang (9th grade) – High School Special Merit Award
  • Ignacio Garcia (11th grade) – High School Gold Medal Award
  • Kathryn Long (12th grade) – Grade 12 Gold Medal Winner 3D
  • Margaret Morrison Sauer (10th grade) – Glassell Winner, 3D Premier Winner, Grade 10 Best of Show 3D, and Kerrville Western Art Academy Scholarship Winner
  • Maria Pagola (11th grade) – Kerrville Western Art Academy Scholarship Winner
  • Martha Ortiz (12th grade) – High School Special Merit Award, Grade 12 Best of Show 3D, and 3D Premier Winner

In addition, the District was awarded the Super Show Award for outstanding presentation and organization of the Conroe ISD District Western Art Show.
