CONROE, Texas - Riley McKnight’s two-out two-RBI triple to center field propelled Oak Ridge into a six-run inning en route to a 8-2 home district win over Kingwood on Friday night.

Oak Ridge (14-1, 7-0) scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth, all with two-outs led by McKnight’s triple scoring Jose Sanchez and Luken Baker, who was intentionally walked to bring up McKnight. The War Eagles continued the inning when Addison Moss and Anthony Smith hit back-to-back doubles to the outfield that scored McKnight, Michael Lawson and Moss to give Oak Ridge a 7-2 lead. Smith would get the final tally to 8-2, when his RBI-single to right field scored Demarco Thomas.

Luken Baker hit a solo home run and Anthony Smith hit an RBI-single to right field on a line drive, scoring Moss in the bottom of the first to give Oak Ridge an early 2-0 lead.

Kingwood battled back to score two runs in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-2 until the War Eagles’ two-out six-run sixth inning.

Anthony Smith led the War Eagles at the plate going 2-for-3 with three RBI’s and a walk.

Oak Ridge starting pitcher Durbin Feltman went 5.1-innings, scattering seven hits and giving up just two earned runs, walking two and striking out 10 of the 44 batters he faced on 107 pitches.

Oak Ridge improves to 7-0 in District 16-6A and is in first place by two full games, due to College Park’s loss to Atascocita on Friday night.

The War Eagles look to continue their undefeated district streak on Tuesday, April 14, at 7pm, at Conroe.
