Becky Drake takes 1st place at YMCA Dancing with The Woodlands Stars Fundraiser

THE WOODLANDS, Texas– Becky Drake, a Realtor at RE/MAX The Woodlands & Spring, along with her dance partner Aaron Lumpkin, an instructor at Affinity Ballroom The Woodlands, danced their way to 1st Place in the Third Annual YMCA Dancing with The Woodlands Stars fundraiser.

Dancing to Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud,” the pair faced off against 11 community star/Affinity Ballroom professional dancer duos who all joined the effort on April 9 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center to raise funds for the South Montgomery County YMCA’s Giving Campaign.

“When first approached about participating in the fundraiser, I wasn’t sure how I would be able to juggle clients and rehearsals in the busy spring season of the real estate business. But fortunately my two wonderful team members, Jim Harper and Candice Cavin, were willing to take up the slack for me whenever necessary,” Drake said. “And my amazing dance partner, Aaron Lumpkin with Affinity Ballroom The Woodlands, did a great job of smoothing out any rough edges during the performance.”

What she initially considered a “lofty goal” of raising $10,000 for the YMCA’s Giving Campaign was quickly surpassed, ultimately reaching $16,050 “thanks to the tremendous support of my family, friends and clients,” Drake said. “I’m so glad that I decided to get outside of my comfort zone and do this for the kids who will benefit so much from their positive experiences at the YMCA.”
