The Woodlands High School volleyball program is going on strike! On Friday at the stroke of midnight, the girls will stop showering for a week or until they raise $5000.00 for a great cause. "Well Aware" is an organization based out of Austin that raises funds for life-saving water systems in Africa. Many children in rural Africa walk all day only to return to only unsanitary water which prevents them from attending school. TWHS Volleyball insists that those children living in those conditions is completely unacceptable!

So, that's right, The Woodlands Volleyball team is going to skip their showers for a week or until YOU help them meet their fundraising goal of $5,000!

On the TWHS volleyball site, it reads, "Remember, the people we are helping can't just reach in the refrigerator for a cold bottle of clean water like we can....so please help us make a difference so the kids in East Africa can not only survive but thrive and attend school. Together, we have the power to help create a world where water is readily accessible to all!"

If you would be so kind as to help the girls reach their goal, click here. Anything you can do to help them reach their goal would be appreciated.

The Shower Strike officially takes place from April 18-25. TWHS Booster Club President, Trava Cuadra has been involved with Well Aware for five years and was instrumental in bringing this activity to the program...

"Well Aware is such a great program and it really does benefit children in Africa big time. Often times, you'll hear of organizations advertise that they are raising funds for similar programs only to find out later that not all of the money raised goes where you think it is going. With Well Aware, 100% goes right to these children."

Seeing as the girls will not be showering for seven days, Ms Cuadra was asked if they will be playing any volleyball in that time.

"Well, about 85% of the girls are here in Dallas at a tournament and they'll have played a full weekend of volleyball before they head back to The Woodlands. That's why we are hoping we can reach our goal early so the Department of Public Safety won't have to block off I45 South so we can proceed without offending anyone. Things could be pretty gamey by Sunday night."

Not only are these girls two-time state champions, they are championing a great cause in Well Aware. Won't you please help them raise five grand (they are at 1400 as of this writing) before they get back to The Woodlands on Sunday night? PLEASE!!!
