THE WOODLANDS, Texas - PACN hosted Lt. Col. Oliver North for the second time as keynote speaker of PACN's annual fundraising banquet on Friday, April 17. His first time as keynote was on September 15, 2001, just four days after the September 11 attacks.

“That was an unforgettable night,” reminisced PACN executive director, Cindy Sunday Powell. “Lt. Col. North took the time to bring words of reassurance to those present but also challenged us to carry on-connecting PACN’s mission of reaching out to men and women needing hope in uncertain times of their lives. After 28 years, the ministry of PACN is still doing that same thing.”

PACN banquet chair, Sandy Ashe, said Lt. Col. North was asked back due to popular demand and the numbers in attendance attested to the fact. The 2015 fundraising banquet was sold out and attended by almost 900 guests, PACN’s largest banquet to date. Over $420,000 was raised for the organization which will provide medically accurate, client-centered care to women and men facing a sexual health issue or unplanned pregnancy.

“More and more people are hearing about PACN and want to see about getting involved. The people who have come to our banquet keep returning to bring business associates and friends. Our banquets are fun and informative of not only what is going on in the community but what is going on in this country and in the world,” stated Sunday Powell.

Lt. Col. Oliver North spoke about everyday heroes, much like he does on his Fox News show, War Stories. He remarked that keeping company with heroes means something. Whether it’s bringing to light stories of the brave men and women who serve our country or those serving on the front lines of preserving the sanctity of life, we must all continue to fight the good fight.

“PACN has what we call in the military “situational awareness”-being aware of what is going on around you and then doing something about it,” Lt. Col. North stated. “How can we weep over the fallen in our military and not weep over the million plus lives lost due to abortion? We must reject violence of human lives.”

One of the most stirring parts of the night was hearing from previous PACN volunteer and abortion survivor Dawn Milberger. Dawn is director of Gotcha Ministries of Central Texas and shared her personal story of surviving multiple abortion attempts by her birth parents.

2014 was a year of impact for PACN as Karen Gould, Spring/Woodlands Center Director shared. PACN opened its well woman clinic which allows women to access preventative healthcare through no-cost well woman exams. This program has already detected several abnormal tests in which clients were able to receive treatment due to early detection. Over 7,000 client-visits were reported, 41% of clients were referred and 86% of women at-risk for choosing abortion chose life for their child.

“I see great things ahead for PACN in 2015,” remarked Sunday Powell. “We will continue to be an organization that meets the needs of clients through not only no-cost medical care, but also provides emotional and spiritual support as well as educational opportunities. We believe this type of care strengthens not only our clients but their families for generations to come.”
