THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The College Park Cavaliers scored two unearned runs, which proved to be the difference in the Cavaliers’ 4-2 road district win over The Woodlands on Monday night.

In a game that saw four lead changes and starting pitchers Tyler Mortensen and Chris Andritsos control the tempo, errors proved to be the difference maker. Mortensen went the complete game to get the win, giving up just two hits, two earned runs, two walks, while striking out four. Highlanders starter Andritsos scattered just six hits in six innings of work, giving up two earned runs, three walks and five strikeouts in 104 pitches.

The Woodlands (10-11-1, 4-5) grabbed a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning when Ben Gooch singled on a ground ball to right field scoring Nick White and Alex Hale.

College Park (17-3, 6-2) responded to score three runs with two outs in the top of the sixth inning when Chandler Morris hit a line drive double to right field scoring Aric Wilson to make it a 2-2 game. Nate Fisbeck would reach base on an error by the Highlanders that scored Morris, and Austin Stokes, giving the Cavaliers a 4-2 lead.

The win kept College Park in sole possession of second place in District 16-6A, while The Woodlands is in a tie with Atascocita for third place currently, with Summer Creek just one-half game back.

College Park will host first-place Oak Ridge on Tuesday, April 21, at 7pm in a game that can be seen live on Woodlands Online.

The Woodlands will take a quick break from district play to host Episcopal on Tuesday at 7pm, before returning to district play on Friday, April 24, at 7pm at Oak Ridge.
