Trinity Episcopal-The Woodlands goes green

Trinity Episcopal Church, The Woodlands, has just completed the first phase of an LED lighting conversion. The new LED lighting was installed late last year by BTM Solutions of the Woodlands in several interior and exterior areas of the Trinity campus.

During a recent ceremony at Trinity, Phil Lanier, Energy Efficiency Service Manager for Entergy Texas, presented Fr. Gerry Sevick with a rebate check for $3,095.90. Also present at the ceremony were Dan Bullock and Enrique Bendesky representing BTM, Mike Thomson from the Parish Vestry and Ernest Gallegos, Parish Sexton.
In addition to the rebate, the new LED lights will reduce Trinity’s electricity costs by almost $8,000 each year and will contribute over $10,000 in new resources for church ministries this year. The Vestry is planning additional LED lighting conversions for other areas on Trinity’s campus in the future.

By being good stewards of God’s resources, this first phase of Trinity’s LED lighting conversion will remove the equivalent of 37.5 metric tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere each year. That reduction in greenhouse gas is the equivalent to the annual emissions of about 8 passenger vehicles, 4,200 gallons of gasoline or two private homes. As the result of the annual energy savings, the Trinity LED installation will pay for itself in less than 5 years.
Trinity Episcopal Church was established in 1976 in The Woodlands.
