THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Ags for Orphans, a nonprofit and student organization on campus at Texas A&M University, has partnered with Project Samuel by matching funds up to $10,000 to build their very first staff house. Both AFO and Project Samuel hope to raise the remaining cost of the staff house in Nicaragua from other former Texas A&M Students and dedicate the staff house to the Aggie family, making it an “Ags for Orphans” staff house, complete with a plaque on the front of the building.

Calling all Aggies! Relationships for Christ Ministries, Inc. is based in The Woodlands

Project Samuel is the youth revitalization program of Relationships for Christ Ministries, Inc. based in The Woodlands, TX. RFCM Community Relations Director and former TAMU student, Amanda Poole ‘10, contacted the founder of Ags for Orphans, Matt Hemberger ’04 after hearing of the organization through an article in a local magazine. “After researching Ags for Orphans, and getting to meet with Matt, we knew that AFO and Project Samuel were meant to partner together to bring hope to at risk children around the world,” says Mrs. Poole. Ags for Orphans has a history of commitment to at risk children by working in Haiti with Coreluv, and are excited to be expanding into other countries by working with Project Samuel.

RFCM purchased land in the community of Guanacastillo, Nicaragua in May 2014 and began dirt work for construction in March of this year. The sooner they finish construction, the sooner Project Samuel will be up and running full time, and radically impacting the lives of

Calling All Aggies children in the community. Through discipleship, education and job skill training, children will be raised as leaders. “When I look at these children, I see future engineers, pastors, teachers, journalists, artists, etc. These are children simply waiting to have their stories written. To change the world, you must first change a generation,” states RFCM President Timothy J. Vowell.

When asked why he thought to involve the Aggie family as a whole on this journey, AFO Founder Matt Hemberger ’04 said, “There is a characteristic ingrained in Aggies, and that is to give back. In fact, there is a quote by Joe B. Foster ’56 that states, “When Aggies see a need, their energy and their selflessness draw others into the cause, and good things happen.” And this is a GREAT cause.”

To give to the Ags for Orphans/Project Samuel matching funds campaign, simply go to www.projectsamuel.org/donate. Aggies have until June 7th to donate to the campaign. Don’t miss out on an amazing opportunity the bring hope to at risk children around the world.
