THE WOODLANDS, Texas - In “A Promise To Die For,” an Evangeline Raines Mystery, recently divorced Evangeline Raines, is on a journey to keep her promise to her dying grandmother – a promise to continue the search for her family's collection of Old Masters stolen during World War II.

July book signings scheduled for autographed copies.

With the private investigation firm she works for, located in Houston, she travels nationally and abroad in hopes of finding her family’s collection. However, a mysterious murderer will do whatever he or she can to stop Evangeline from finding and possessing the Old Masters collection.

Jacqueline Pelham, local author from The Woodlands, and award-winning author of “Under the Rose,” combined a great group of characters, while also keeping the reader constantly wondering who was stalking Evangeline and racing against her to get to the paintings.

Evangeline, a witty and sassy character, and her partner (or poodle), Zelda, make a great team. Pelham created both characters to provide a fun and sassy aspect to the suspenseful nature of the novel. And with Evangeline being recently divorced, a few different men were added to the plot as well, each playing his own, unique role.

As soon as you think you have the plot figured out, there’s a new twist, keeping you flipping to the next page for something more. Pelham certainly knows how keep the reader glued to the novel. With the combination of danger and comic relief, this novel proves perfect for a reader of all genres.
