THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Brilliant Lecture Series will present Conversations with Ann Romney, an intimate, interactive event featuring the wife of Mitt Romney, former Governor of Massachusetts. She is also the founder and global ambassador of the Ann Romney Center for Neurologic Diseases at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and bestselling author. The event, presented by Mercedes-Benz of The Woodlands, will take place in at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands on October 21.

At the event, which coincides with the launch of her new book In This Together: My Story, Mrs. Romney will talk candidly about her journey with multiple sclerosis (MS), the trials and successes of her treatment that commenced after her 1998 diagnosis, and the sources of faith that continue to give her strength as she experiences what medical professionals call “an astounding recovery.”

“A lot of people talk about a transformation that happens when life throws you a curveball, and the big one in my life was my MS diagnosis,” said Romney. “With all the blessings I’ve had, I believe MS has been my greatest teacher: it has taught me about faith, compassion, and serving others. I’ve met many people along the way who’ve shared advice and demonstrated enormous resilience in the face of challenges: their stories gave me strength. In sharing my story, I want to give others hope, as I’ve been given hope on this journey.”

This event marks the tenth anniversary of Brilliant Lecture Series, a non-profit organization launched by founder Scott Brogan with a lecture by Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan in 2005. The series delivers interactive audience experiences featuring regional, national and international leaders, philanthropists, humanitarians, entertainers and artists.

“I founded the series to create an informal, conversational, interactive forum for great people who weren’t necessarily born successful or famous or influential, but who can inspire our audience by sharing their personal journeys. Through hearing their unique journey that has taken them to extraordinary success, our audience will be inspired to make positive changes in their own lives,” said Brogan. “I wanted the lectures to include iconic, positive role models to Houston and be accessible to the masses so everyday people could listen, learn and be entertained through this time with the most famous and influential people in the world.”

Bob Milner, founder and co-owner of Mercedes-Benz of The Woodlands, is very definitive in his reasons for sponsoring this event. “Brilliant Lecture Series is quite literally bringing the national stage to The Woodlands,” he said. “Much like the series, we believe that The Woodlands is the perfect venue to present upscale, mind- and soul-expanding experiences to people who crave beauty, engagement and entertainment.”

Author’s proceeds from the book will be donated to inspire hope and empower those confronting multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), Parkinson’s disease and brain tumors, which affect more than 50 million people around the globe.

The series will be held on Wednesday, October 21, with a breakfast option from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at The Club at Carlton Woods, located at One Carlton Wood Drive in The Woodlands, or a wine reception from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Asia Society Texas Center, located at 1370 Southmore Blvd. in Houston. All tickets are $80 person and include either the breakfast or wine reception, and a moderated conversation with Mrs. Romney and autographed copy of her memoir.
