Michael Cavanaugh to honor the great singer-songwriters at The Pavilion on July 30

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Join The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion when Broadway’s Michael Cavanaugh returns to the stage July 30 for Michael Cavanaugh: Music of the Great Singer-Songwriters with the Houston Symphony. Conductor Ernest Richardson leads the symphony as Cavanaugh sings iconic songs by artists like Paul Simon, James Taylor, John Mellencamp, Billy Joel, Neil Diamond and more.

A charismatic performer, musician and actor made famous for his performance in the Broadway musical “Movin’ Out,” Michael Cavanaugh is the new voice of the American rock ‘n’ roll songbook. Michael Cavanaugh was handpicked by Billy Joel to star in the title role and evokes a style rivaling the Piano Man. Michael appeared in the show for 3 years and over 1,200 performances, receiving accolade after accolade, which culminated in 2003 with both Grammy and Tony award nominations. In July 2013, Cavanaugh shook The Pavilion’s stage for “The Songs of Billy Joel” with the Houston Symphony.

Tickets are $20 for orchestra seating. Mezzanine and lawn seating are free courtesy of Insperity and Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. Tickets are not required for free seating. Gates open 7 p.m.

Arrive early for pre-concert activities starting at 7 p.m. in the North Plaza featuring Fidelity Investments, The Pavilion Partners, Century 21 Realty Group, Audi of America and more. Guests can register to win Tommy Bahama’s “Best Seats in the House,” which includes free entry and dinner for four at the next performing arts event.

Guests are welcome to have a picnic at their seat or on the hill. Keep in mind that beverages cannot be brought into The Pavilion. For guests sitting on the hill, lawn chairs will also be provided free for this event!

Orchestra tickets can be purchased at The Pavilion Box Office, located at 2005 Lake Robbins Drive in The Woodlands. Tickets are not required for free seating. The Box Office is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. and on event days through the start of the show. Tickets also are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, including Fiesta, select H-E-B and Walmart locations, by calling 800-745-3000 or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Preferred parking is available in the on-site Town Center Garage, located along Six Pines Drive. Parking is $10 per vehicle for this and most performing arts events. Tickets for on-site parking can be purchased in advance at all Ticketmaster locations and The Pavilion Box Office. Guests also may park in any of the five free parking lots on the southwest side of The Pavilion. The free, color-coded lots are connected to The Pavilion by corresponding pathways with signs leading across The Waterway.
