THE WOODLANDS, Texas - I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! On July 30, join the community for Miracle Treat Day at Dairy Queen, where you can enjoy a delicious blizzard while raising awareness and funds for Texas Children’s Hospital-The Woodlands.

Make your day a little sweeter by purchasing a blizzard on July 30, while supporting a great cause.

In its second year, Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day is a program to raise money for local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® to help heal sick and injured children. For every blizzard that is sold on July 30, Dairy Queen will donate one dollar to the cause. All funds raised at Dairy Queen, located at 2300 Buckthorne Place, will benefit Texas Children’s Hospital-The Woodlands, set to open in 2017.

“All the money that we are raising here at our DQ stays in The Woodlands and goes to the hospital building here,” said Paulette Fiedler, General Manager.

For every Miracle Treat Day, there is a very special Miracle Child that is honored. This year, it is six-year-old Deonc Bradley. Deonc was born with Jarcho-Levin Syndrome, a rare genetic condition characterized by lungs and a rib cage that are too small for a growing body. For those who have a severe form of the condition, like Deonc, it is rare that they live past the age of two. Deonc is six, has an infectious smile, and is truly a Miracle Child.

“The most rewarding part for me personally is just seeing the children and the amounts of strength that they have,” said Fiedler. “Our little girl (Deonc) wasn't supposed to live past two, and here she is going to be walking through my door at age six. It just touches my heart in that way.”

Although the event isn't until late July, Dairy Queen customers can still donate towards the cause up until Miracle Treat Day, July 30. Fiedler notes that more money has already been raised than last year, and that this year’s fundraising goal is $10,000.

“We have already started asking people to donate,” said Fiedler. “If you donate a dollar, you get a dollar coupon that you can use on your next visit!”

Dairy Queen is going all out this year to make this fun, family-friendly event a huge success. Although customers can stop by anytime during the operating hours to support Miracle Treat Day, the main event will be from noon to 3pm. There will be a balloon artist, a moonwalk, and The Woodlands Township will have a fire truck and police car for the kids to check out. Customers can enjoy a delicious blizzard, get a goody bag that will include various items and Dairy Queen coupons, and even get their face painted thanks to Oak Ridge High School football and baseball teams!

“We are making it really big this year,” said Fiedler of Miracle Treat Day.

For Deonc Bradley and all the children at Texas Children’s Hospital, help make their day a little brighter, and sweeter, by coming out to Miracle Treat Day and purchasing a blizzard. Every donation counts to help give hope to sick and injured children right here in The Woodlands and surrounding areas.
