Woodlands Sole Expo a one-of-a-kind event

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Get ready, Woodlands. A new and unique event unlike any other is coming to town on August 9 at Legends Sports Complex. Woodlands Sole is an expo created by Woodlands native, Trey Diller. Interested in shoes and fashion, Diller wanted an event that would expose the evolution of the shoe industry, while also including entertainment that both kids and adults would enjoy. Put the two together and you have an event that has never been done before.

Trey Diller, a recognizable name in The Woodlands, is a 2008 graduate of College Park High School. Not only did Diller go on to play collegiate football at Sam Houston State, but he also played in the NFL for the Carolina Panthers. Now, he is back in his hometown gearing up for the first Woodlands Sole event.

“I think Woodlands Sole will benefit the organizations around town, it will give businesses an opportunity to market their services and goods, and it will bring out-of-town visitors in to get a glimpse of The Woodlands and what it has to offer,” said Diller.

Like other similar events, sneaker collectors of all ages can bring up to five pairs of shoes to trade, sell and buy amongst each other and among vendors. The event will have free parking, and tickets are $20 at the door, or $15 if purchased ahead of time online. Woodlands Sole also wants to give back to the community, so attendees who bring either five canned food items or five school supplies items will receive $5 off their entry fee. The school supplies will be given to Conroe Independent School District, and the food will be donated to the Montgomery County Food Bank. A limited amount of VIP tickets are available for $60 and includes a t-shirt, lunch, free alcohol for ages 21 and up and refreshments for those under, and a private meet-and-greet with the host of the event, Trinidad James, and other special guests!

Although focused on shoes, there will be other vendors at Woodlands Sole ranging from clothes, music, art, health and wellness, spas, salons and jewelry. Local barbers will also be giving free haircuts and Massage Heights of Panther Creek will be giving massages during the show for $1 per minute, with proceeds going back to charity.

Diller wanted to make sure that there will be something for everyone at the unique event. In fact, its going to be packed with live entertainment, activities for kids, monster truck rides, lots of giveaways, and even a silent auction including Adrian Peterson and Emmanuel Sanders signed items. A portion of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to local non-profit organizations.

Complete with a wipeout course, bouncy castles, an inflatable slide, an obstacle course and a 3-point shooting contest judged by Trinidad James, Woodlands Sole is an event you won’t want to miss. Another special guest to make an appearance is Ronald McDonald. Be on the lookout for Ronald as well as a 20-foot shoe on wheels from McDonald’s!

“There is going to be focus on shoes but there will be a mixture variation of everything else. There is something for everybody to do,” said Diller. “The rewarding part for me is being able to give back and help as many companies, vendors and people as I can. As long as they come and get some exposure and business out of it, that will be the biggest positive for me.”

Although the idea of shoe trade shows is nothing new, Woodlands Sole stands out from the rest in the category. Instead of an annual event, Diller hopes that Woodlands Sole can be held three to four times a year.

“I want to always give these newer companies an opportunity to market to a very large crowd of people.”
