THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Woodlands Boys’ Choir, newly launched by HopePoint Church and open to musical boys aged 7 through 13 of all faiths and cultures in North Harris and Montgomery Counties, is holding open auditions and interviews by appointment now through September 5. The auditions will take place at HopePointe Church, 3333 South Panther Creek Drive in The Woodlands.

Inviting all interested boys ages 7 - 13 to apply and sing

Sherryl Pond, Director of the choir, assures potential auditioners that, even if they have never sung before, there is nothing to fear about the process. “The auditions are simple and non-threatening. We will just do some easy vocal exercises and talk about whether the choir is a good fit for them,” she said.

The vision of The Woodlands Boys’ Choir is to bring together talented boys reflecting the cultural diversity of the Montgomery/North Harris County areas. Rehearsals, which commence the week of September 7, will include a variety of activities involving movement and games, all the while teaching fundamental skills of music reading and singing skills.

“The unique choral tradition and environment of a fine boys’ choir instills the life skills of self-discipline, confidence, expectation of excellence, self-motivation, and accomplishment, which serves them, whatever the boy's eventual chosen field,” said Pond. “Nothing compares to the excitement over the astonishing beauty of boys using their God-given musical talents to sing glorious music as one voice, creating something far greater than any individual voice. In a complicated world where kids are constantly plugged into technology, the timeless, ancient tradition of a boys’ choir is a safe, positive, encouraging respite that will give them skills for life-long enjoyment.”
