THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Mercedes-Benz of The Woodlands recently donated one hundred percent of its net July profits to two noted non-profit organizations in an act of charitable giving that totaled $80,000, said Bob Milner, general manager and co-owner of the luxury automotive retailer. Milner said the amount was equally divided between the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund and Texas Children’s Hospital. The donation is the total of every transaction for the month of July—all vehicle sales, service work, car rentals and other transactions that took place during the entire month.

“We wanted to do more than help. We wanted to make an impact. These donations will give children the kinds of medical and educational resources that can put them on a pathway toward the future they deserve,” said Milner.

The Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund provides support to veterans and their families, with special emphasis on helping children who have lost a parent in the line of duty. The fund has assisted thousands of children through college scholarships, grants and financial aid toward academic and vocational degrees, certifications and other forms of career training as well as educational career counseling and mentorship.

Texas Children's Hospital is working to ensure a healthier future for children and mothers in The Woodlands and other communities north of Houston. Construction is underway for its new pediatric community hospital, the first dedicated pediatric care hospital designed specifically to treat children and adolescents in The Woodlands. The facility is set to open in 2017.

Milner said that even before opening its doors for business this past April, MBOTW had already determined that a spirit of giving would be one of the “pillars” of its organizational culture. In addition to Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund and Texas Children’s Hospital, MBOTW has provided generous support to the Interfaith of The Woodlands food pantry and has sponsored groups and events that Milner believes help to invigorate the arts and culture scene in The Woodlands, such as The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival and The Woodlands Symphony Orchestra.

“We have an ongoing commitment to our community and to those who need a hand, especially our military families and the children of our area. The Woodlands is one of the most distinctive communities in Texas and the nation, and our vision is to expand that excellence. Doing what it takes is at the heart of who we are at MBOTW.”
