THE WOODLANDS, Texas - When visiting a gallery, a museum or an art exhibit you have the opportunity to see in the artist’s work an individual interpretation, his or her perspective of the subject matter isolated from the environment where the work was created.

Market Street Painters, a group of professional artists and members of the Woodlands Art League, have been meeting every Friday for more than 10 years to paint live models. The group currently has seventeen members, ten of which have put together an exhibit to show the public how studio paintings of the same model are made from a 180° perspective, using different mediums and techniques. The show intends to present the model as a set of puzzle pieces, where paintings show the whole range of interpretations, instead of an individual portrayal, or as a full 180° landscape, integrated and modified by the interaction between the artists in the group and their influence on each other’s art. Paintings of the same model will be displayed together, so the viewer can appreciate how these pieces connect in space and time.

Live demonstrations will be held during the exhibit opening, on Saturday August 29th, 6:00-9:00 pm.

The exhibit will be open from August 29th until September 30th, Tuesday through Friday 10 am – 3 pm at the Woodlands Art League: 25136 Grogans Park Dr, The Woodlands, TX 77380. Visit www.woodlandsartleague.org for more info.
