HOUSTON, Texas – The entertainment industry is fraught with pitfalls and dangers, and for those who attempt to break into it, the run the constant risk of receiving bad advice. Unless someone has “been there, done that,” their words of wisdom can have devastating consequences on the possible career and life of tomorrow’s star.

Mathew Knowles – father of Beyoncé Knowles and instrumental in her career – has served as executive producer for more than 100 award-winning albums in multiple genres, and has developed acts like R&B sensation Destiny’s Child into global phenomenons. On October 24, Knowles is presenting what he describes as a one-day entertainment boot camp he calls “The Music Industry: How Do I Get In?” taking place at downtown Houston’s Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.

At this intensive, intimate and informative event, Knowles will use his 25 years of experience to help attendees understand the opportunities in all aspects of the entertainment industry, from singers to stylists, from producers to promoters, from musicians to makeup artists. “For those who have asked me how they can break into the industry, I tell them they have to understand the importance of networking, employing the traits of successful artists and personnel.”

Boot camp attendees will learn how to build a foundation from the ground. Besides a comprehensive presentation by Knowles himself, the entire second half of the boot camp will feature a six-member expert panel that includes some of the industry’s most successful attorneys, managers, record label executives, artists, songwriters and vocal coaches. “These experts will share advice and tips about all aspects of the industry, whether that want to be on stage, behind stage, in the studio, or in the executive office.”

The boot camp will take place on Saturday, October 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Zilkha Hall in The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, located at 800 Bagby in downtown Houston. There is tier pricing for Early Bird, General Admission, Student and VIP tickets. Attendees can register online at www.GetInMusicBiz2015.EventBrite.com. VIP ticket holders can enjoy a lunch with Knowles, and also personally present him with a resume, demo CD, or other collateral.
