The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion ranked #1 outdoor amphitheater in the world

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is now ranked first in the top 100 amphitheaters in the world based on the number of tickets sold so far in 2015, according to Pollstar magazine, the concert industry’s leading trade publication. The Pavilion’s ticket sales totaled 395,829 for concerts between January 1 and September 30, 2015. This is the first time that The Pavilion has achieved the top spot on the publication’s list. The Pavilion has consistently ranked in the top five since 2010.

“The Pavilion has had an incredible 2015 so far,” said Jerry MacDonald, president and CEO of The Pavilion. “We are fortunate to work with our dedicated partner Live Nation, the No. 1 concert promoter in the world, and for our supportive community and world-class staff.”

The Pavilion has had 15 sold-out events in 2015 including KSBJ Anniversary Show with MercyMe March 28, Buzzfest 33 April 18, Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga April 24, Elton John May 1, Lana Del Rey May 7, Dave Matthews Band May 16, DISNEY IN CONCERT with the Houston Symphony June 12, Kid Rock July 22, Chicago & Earth, Wind & Fire July 25, 5 Seconds of Summer Aug. 8, Incubus & Deftones Aug. 19, J. Cole Aug. 21, Def Leppard Aug. 22, Van Halen Sept. 25, and Hall & Oates Sept. 26.

In addition to its lineup of contemporary entertainment in 2015, The Pavilion presented its most successful performing arts season to date, with eight Houston Symphony concerts, performances by Houston Ballet, Houston Grand Opera and the Texas Music Festival Orchestra and several educational outreach programs.

Other venues recognized on Pollstar magazine’s list include Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO at No. 2, Filene Center at Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA at No. 3, Klipsch Music Center in Noblesville, IN at No. 4 and Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ at No 5. Other Texas venues on the list include Gexa Energy Pavilion in Dallas at No. 18, Austin360 Amphitheater in Austin at No. 33, and Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels at No. 38.
