THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Lone Star College-Montgomery’s music department is again teaming up with Interfaith of The Woodlands to create another memorable holiday event for the whole family on Friday, December 4, at 7:30pm in the Performing Arts Center (building D).

The concert will include performances by all of the college’s musical groups including the choir, symphonic band, symphony orchestra, and jazz ensemble, and will feature the Woodlands Boys Choir as a special guest. The Woodlands Boys Choir was recently formed in the ancient boy choir tradition and follows the example of fine boys choirs in major cities throughout the world.

“We are very excited about the participation of the newly formed Woodlands Boys Choir, and hope this will be an opportunity to bring a new generation of singers to the college’s stage,” said music department chair and director of choral activities, Dr. Mark Marotto.

Under the direction of LSC-Montgomery music professors Dr. Eiki Isomura, Cristina Mendoza, and Dr. Marotto, the concert will feature an array of traditional carols and familiar holiday favorites, with all of the ticket proceeds donated to Interfaith of The Woodlands, a faith-based organization that brings people together to build a more loving and caring community through service.

“Interfaith of the Woodlands is delighted and honored to be the recipient of the proceeds from the holiday choir concert,” said Dr. Ann Snyder, president and CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands. “We appreciate the decade long partnership of support shown to our community by LSC-Montgomery as we continue to serve our families in need this holiday season.”

According to Snyder, Interfaith of the Woodlands serves as a resource hub for the entire community. The organization works with member congregations, corporations, local businesses, individuals, non-profits and community organizations in order to make a difference in as many lives as possible.

This is the tenth year that holiday concert proceeds have been donated to a local non-profit organization, and the seventh year of LSC-Montgomery’s partnership with Interfaith of The Woodlands.

“We are very pleased to be able to showcase our students’ talents and make a contribution to those in need this holiday season,” said Dr. Isomura, director of orchestral activities.

Interfaith of The Woodlands helps individuals in crisis through financial assistance for rent, mortgage, utilities, gasoline, prescription drug assistance, emergency shelter, food, counseling, job training, senior programs and child care.

In 2005, the college began offering on-campus child care services for its students, and Interfaith of The Woodlands operates and manages that childcare center.

Tickets for the holiday concert cost $10 for general admission, $7 for seniors 55 and older, and $5 for LSC-Montgomery faculty, staff, and students. Additional donations will be accepted on the date of the concert as well.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.LoneStar.edu/ticket-info.
