MCCF to award over $140,000 in grants to 31 Montgomery County non-profits
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- The Montgomery County Community Foundation (MCCF) was established to create and build a permanent fund to provide for the present and future well-being of our community. Monies awarded by MCCF come from 29 permanently endowed charitable funds given by local donors wanting to establish lasting support for our county and its residents. The principal of these funds remains intact and working to generate income in perpetuity, while the available earnings are used for annual grants to agencies working in Montgomery County and scholarships to local students. This conservative philanthropic approach insures that grants and scholarships will be available to enrich the quality of life for Montgomery County citizens both now and forever.
The foundation’s endowment funds are professionally managed and earnings are distributed annually to community organizations that: feed the hungry; provide crisis assistance; promote education and literacy; promote our county’s heritage and cultural arts; help with medical and dental needs; provide for animal welfare; support programs for youth, seniors and the disabled; and meet the benevolent needs in our community.
On Thursday, December 3rd, MCCF will award $141,300 in grants to 31 nonprofit agencies that are working to improve lives in Montgomery County. The 2015 MCCF Grants’ Reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital. MCCF Board members will honor fund donors for their continued commitment to this community and recipient organizations for the life changing work they are doing throughout Montgomery County.
Earlier in the year, MCCF awarded $9,600 in educational scholarships to 9 local students. This brings the foundation’s total giving for 2015 to $150,900. With the 2015 awards, MCCF has given over $1,137,500 in 314 community grants and 93 scholarships, and the foundation’s endowment corpus has increased to a market value exceeding 5 million dollars to date.
