THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Every now and then I like to go back to the basics...and for me that means lunch. Lunch sandwiches to be precise...and not the $15 variety. I'm talking under $7 bargains that bring the value and keep the flavor. So I decided to target something I've enjoyed my entire life -- an old fashioned Club Sandwich. I've ordered them since I was a little kid eating out with my parents so I'm something of a connoisseur...besides, who doesn't like ham, turkey & bacon together on a sandwich?

So I asked a few of the locals in The Woodlands and they pointed directly to Honey Bee Ham & Deli. Giddy up!

Even though I knew I wanted the Club, I like to ask the cashier what the most popular sandwiches are. She said the Ham & Cheese is a big seller. Bam! Sandwich number two, just like that. Asked if I would like it grilled...well, yes I would. Something about me: I always say yes to grilling.

Within a few minutes I was brought two baskets of sandwiches. It was a beautiful November day in The Woodlands, so I took advantage of their outdoor seating. I turned my attention to The Club first and was very pleased with the amount of food for $6.59. A nice amount of ham, turkey and bacon.

The whole experience brought me back to eating lunch out with my parents. Nostalgia and lunch at the same time? Hard to beat.

Before I got too full from the Club I took a big bite into my grilled Ham & Swiss and was more than pleasantly surprised. For only $5.49 this is a great lunchtime choice. The bread was just a perfect balance of grilled and soft. The Swiss cheese was melting out of it and the honey ham was delicious (on both sandwiches). Perfection! And BONUS -- both sandwiches come with a heaping pile of potato chips. Good till the last crunch.

Rumor is they have "The Best" burgers here. Next time! Please follow @woodlandsonline & @sandwichesrule on your favorite social networks. Honey Bee Ham & Deli is located in the Cochran's Crossing Shopping Center at
