THE WOODLANDS, Texas — On Saturday, the ACLJ (American Center for Law and Justice) broke the long awaited news that American Pastor Saeed Abedini has been released from imprisonment in Iran. This news comes with great relief and amazement as more than 1.1 million people have joined in fighting across the globe for Pastor Saeed’s freedom.

“We’re grateful for the millions of people who have stood with us in our ongoing efforts – both in this country and abroad – to secure (Pastor Saeed’s) release. We have worked and prayed that this day would finally arrive. And now, Pastor Saeed can return home,” stated the ACLJ in a press release.

In the summer of 2012, Pastor Saeed was initially incarcerated. On January 27, 2013 he was sentenced to eight years in prison on reported charges of undermining national security through private religious gatherings in Christian homes in Iran.

News broke late Friday night that Pastor Saeed had been taken from his prison cell to Iran’s Central Intelligence Agency. His release is the result of the tireless efforts of the ACLJ working at home and abroad to defend religious freedoms.

“We join with numerous others around the globe, in giving thanks to God for Pastor Saeed’s freedom,” said Cindy Sunday Powell, PACN Executive Director. “We are encouraged by organizations like the ACLJ who continue to advocate for the constitutional rights and freedoms guaranteed to all Americans under the law.”

To hear more on this, join PACN at its annual fundraising banquet on March 4 at 7pm to hear Jay Sekulow, head of the ACLJ, speak on Pastor Saeed as well as many other topics concerning religious liberty and constitutional freedoms. PACN’s banquet will be held at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Resort and Conference Center. Tickets are still available for purchase at pacncommunity.org/2016-spring-banquet/.
