THE WOODLANDS, Texas — Recently, Montgomery County Precinct 3 completed its last round of intersection improvements in South Montgomery County. Significant improvements were made on the corridors of Woodlands Parkway, Lake Woodlands and Gosling Road. These roadways represent some of the main corridors through our community.

After recent studies, travel time on Lake Woodlands has been reduced up to 29%, Research Forest has seen up to a 32% reduction and Woodlands Parkway has seen up to a 4% reduction in travel time. Specifically at the Woodlands Parkway and Kuykendahl intersection, the third eastbound lane has almost eliminated the peak hour congestion which was typically seen during our peak periods.

Increasing the throughput at the intersections allows for more capacity which helps maintain the traffic progression through the community. The travel time results can be attributed to intersection improvements, updated signal timing and the new flashing yellow arrows throughout the Precinct.

Precinct 3 has installed over 24 flashing yellow arrows and plan to add more in the coming weeks. The next round of intersection improvements is set to start at Interstate 45 and the Rayford Road corridor in the coming months. Precinct 3 will be adding and extending turn lanes on Sawdust and Rayford Road for both the East and Westbound movement.

Commissioner Noack’s Office is committed to enhancing mobility and reducing congestion in South Montgomery County.
