To the Editor,

I support Eric Yollick for the 9th District Court for a few simple reasons. First, fiscal responsibility. Yollick was a leader among those responsible for our local hospital district being put on firm financial ground in 2001. This is after another local group left the MCHD in economic shambles even though the organization had inherited a thirty million dollar trust fund with which to provide indigent care. This proves his financial capabilities and his ability to accomplish his stated goal of potential savings of $5,600,000.00 in that judgeship alone. When he accomplishes that financial goal, then maybe the other judges will take heed. This could lead to significant savings for county tax payers.

Second, Eric Yollick is a man of integrity. Politics and cronyism have no place in our judicial system. It is important for judges to make sure the courts offer fair and equal treatment under the law and are not swayed by political influence and financial contributions from those who benefit from their affiliation with the legal system.

Lastly, Yollick is fair. The "lock them up and throw away the keys" mentality may lead to good headlines, but it does not solve the problems of the community. We need a judge who can administer justice fairly.

It's time for a change and to elect someone who is not beholden to anyone. Eric Yollick is the right man for the 9th District Court.
